Life Coaching Course
Does your job involve coaching or mentoring others? Are you keen to develop the skills to motivate your partner or your children to realise more of their life goals? If so, you may be ready to learn some life coaching skills which you can apply to yourself and fellow students through the eight weeks of this course.
This course offers a chance to clarify and to pursue your life goals with practical support. You’ll discover your strengths and weaknesses, and examine ways to delegate those tasks which weigh you down or which don’t use your strengths. This course also includes:
-
Finding meaningful work and discovering what motivates you
-
Mapping your path to fulfilment
-
How to resist the plans others have for you
-
How realising your short term goals can give you confidence for the more significant goals.
-
The importance of rewards along the way to your long term goals
-
Dealing with your fears, including fear of failure or fear of success
-
Enlisting the help of others in your plans
-
The importance or rewarding those who assist you in your plans
Too often talented, creative people who have no support become overwhelmed when faced with continuous obstacles in the path to their desired goals. Frequently these obstacles are the result of actions taken, and objective guidance can make the journey flow more smoothly.
Because a life coach doesn’t do the work for you, those attending this course must be prepared to make real efforts towards their goals. The role of the coach is to show clients how to take their own steps towards fulfilment and independence.
To be a part of this course you will need to
-
be prepared to take responsibility for yourself and your actions
-
commit to attending all the sessions
-
be realistic in your aspirations
-
be supportive of the other group members
-
have read or be reading the book True North (this will increase your understanding of some of the exercises involved.)
This is a hands-on course, and you are invited to bring your current goals for use in exercises. If you are currently self employed and seek to expand or improve your business, bring along your business goals. You can work on them throughout the course. If you have health and fitness goals, financial goals or you seek a different lifestyle, bring these goals along.
A supportive group environment offers you the chance to receive constructive feedback and to observe how others deal with the issues you are facing. Together we can prepare for the challenges ahead.
This course continues one evening per week for eight weeks. This is to enable you to establish your plans and to achieve some results while receiving the support of the group. You’ll be able to test your theories and to bring your issues back to the class for help or simply for fine tuning. Real change takes time, and this course allows you time to map your path, build your confidence and experience some results.
Hand-outs are included and you may need to allow a few hours each week for homework, to ensure you can achieve your goals.
